This track came about in a pretty unique way. John Nicholson (coolparadiso) had written the lyrics and a few days later I did a piano improvisation that was completely independent of them. I hadn't even read them.
Florian writes that 'John came up with these words that immediately reminded me of a sea shanty. So I set out experimenting with different musical styles'. He heard my Sea Folk piano piece and used it to write this song. He did some very skilful music production work to take the piano, make it fit the song and then sing the lyrics so very, very well.
(C)
Up and down, up and down we rise and fall,
On this see-saw, i think we’ve seen it all
In the lows and highs, we find our way,
On this see-saw of life, we seize each day.
(V2)
The darkest nights, they lead to brighter days,
Like a see-saw, we find our own ways,
When troubles weigh heavy, and skies seem gray,
Hoping that the see-saw will tilt my way.
(C)
Up and down, up and down we rise and fall,
On this see-saw, i think we’ve seen it all
In the lows and highs, we find our way,
On this see-saw of life, we seize each day.
(B)
When the world feels heavy, and hope feels far,
Remember the see-saw beneath every star,
With each up and down, we learn and grow,
On this see-saw of life, let your spirit flow.
(V3)
Through all the storms and the sunny skies,
We'll cherish the laughter and wipe teary eyes,
On this see-saw journey, we're not alone,
In this dance of life, we find our own home.
(C)
Up and down, up and down we rise and fall,
On this see-saw, i think we’ve seen it all
In the lows and highs, we find our way,
On this see-saw of life, we seize each day.
